Ray Blue was born in Portsmouth, Virginia and raised in Peekskill, New York. He was drawn to the music of Miles Davis and others but specifically to the tenor saxophone sounds of Stanley Turrentine, Gene Ammons, Ben Webster, John Coltrane, Jr. Walker and King Curtis. Ray is not only a talented musician, but also a skilled music teacher, who shares his knowledge and experience both in the United States and abroad. He has gained recognition as an outstanding saxophonist who touches the hearts of his listeners with his emotional and gentle style. With his extensive discography, including seven albums and frequent performances all over the world, Ray Blue is a significant figure in the New York jazz scene. His latest work "Work" has been well received by audiences and remained on top of music charts for several weeks. For over two months, the Jazz Week Chart saw Ray's music ranked as high as number 7, and his holiday song "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" is expected to become a timeless hit, having reached number 2 on the charts. With his talented band and emotionally charged solos, Ray is receiving great recognition in both the United States and Europe. Additionally, a new album featuring Kenny is currently in the works, adding to Ray's growing success. The release of Barron's piano music is planned for autumn of 2021.
