MoMA Presents Modern Matinees: Documentary Visions
The Museum of Modern Art will present the film series Modern Matinees: Documentary Visions at The Museum of Modern Art screening February 1st through February 24th. MoMA will showcase a variety of historically and socially significant documentaries, exploring the heart of humanity through film.
In the lead-up to the 2023 edition of our yearly Doc Fortnight nonfiction festival, this matinee program celebrates filmmakers who have indelibly shaped the documentary form, and whose work figures prominently in MoMA’s collection and exhibition history. Spanning themes of political upheaval, ecology, labor organizing, Indigenous land rights, policing, and motherhood, these films address issues that remain at the forefront of nonfiction filmmaking today.
