Dexter Gordon Sound Salon

Mar 19 | Tue | 7PM |
View Website

Celebrate the life and legacy of tenor saxophonist Dexter Gordon (1923–1990), one of the major innovators of modern jazz. Join an informal guided listening event, with special guest Maxine Gordon, author of the new book Sophisticated Giant: The Life and Legacy of Dexter Gordon. Like a jazz composition, this sound salon will casually blend anecdote, expert commentary, recitation from Dexter's personal letters, with, of course, lots of music from the Library's vast recorded sound collections.
