The non-profit Counseling In Schools (CIS) will honor renowned art collector and consultant Lois Plehn with its Measures of Hope Award, and CIS Executive Director Kevin Dahill-Fuchel with its Commitment to Hope Award. Legendary jazz bassist and last year’s Measures of Hope Award winner Ron Carter will present the honorees with their respective awards. Also in attendance will be Fred Thomas, bassist for “Godfather of Soul” James Brown for over 30 years, along with a performance by Ballet Hispanico.

The event begins with a reception at 6:30pm, followed by the awards ceremony at 7:15pm and a musical showcase at 7:45pm.

For over 30 years, Counseling In Schools (CIS) has promoted the emotional and social growth of children in New York City public schools so that they can thrive in class and succeed in life. CIS places mental health professionals in schools and homeless shelters to create and foster community-based relationships that equip children, families, teachers, and administrators with the tools to prevent and cope with the obstacles students and their families are experiencing. A 501(c)3 non-profit organization based in New York City, CIS works with the entire school community to aid their journey and reach their full potential.
