Catch Your Mind: Unveiling the Zen Path
Transform Challenges Into Opportunities Through Courage, Compassion, Community
Catch Your Mind is an exploration of the central grounding themes of Soto Zen Buddhist practice: wisdom, ethics, and contemplation in connection to the Three Treasures – the awakened mind (Buddha), taking refuge in the teachings everywhere (Dharma), and in community (Sangha). In this way, this course aspires to be a spiritual learning community.
How can you experience more freedom within yourself and more connection with others? How can you develop your own Zen path of practice? Join us for ten months of study and learn from the writings of Robert Aitken, John Daido Loori, Katsuki Sekida, Taizan Maezumi, Bernie Glassman, John Daishin Buksbazen and others. If you are wondering what the Zen path is, this is a beautiful opportunity to take a fresh look with others in a loving, learning, and practice environment.
Together we will explore materials that offer:
Practical instruction
Philosophical and spiritual interest
Teachings rich in poetic imagery
Images rich in emotional resonance
Opportunities to reflect on what matters most to you
In this ten-month journey, we will meet once a month for a morning of practice, an afternoon of study, and, of course, we welcome you to practice zazen each day in the online & in-person zendo.
One of the essential questions for us is: if we are already free, connected, and lacking nothing, why practice? Let’s inquire together.
