The Boy Who Drew Cats
A concert featuring the premiere of “The Boy Who Drew Cats” by Randall Woolf for the Bachtopus Accordion Ensemble. The new work, commissioned by The Old Stone House, is based on the Japanese folktale. A young boy who constantly draws cats acquires magical powers from his drawings, and defeats a horde of magical rats occupying a temple.
In addition, chamber music from his ballet of “Where The Wild Things Are”, pianist Kathleen Supové will perform Woolf’s “Milk And Cookies”, and the premiere of his “The Soap Museum” for string quartet and percussion. Also, accordion music by legendary master of the ‘vertical piano’ Guy Klucevsek.
Before the concert, audience members are welcome to create their own artistic soaps, using materials we will provide: colorings, fragrances, and mix-ins like dried flowers.
