WHAT: Every Thursday, join stand-up comedian and political scientist Andrea Jones-Rooy as she takes on today's big questions through a political science lens. She's got new topics, and new guest political scientists and comedians each week, and the floor is always open to questions from you.

Anti-Black racism is something that needs to be talked more about in all fields (and both inside and outside the academy), so let’s do it. This week on Ask a Political Scientist, we discuss the anti-Black racism in the field of political science and the academy. We won’t promise to offer easy answers, but we will aim to name and discuss some of the many challenges facing Black scientists, as well as what we (especially white wannabe allies) must do differently.

Our guests are the brilliant Andrea Benjamin, Ph.D. and Moiya McTier. Donations made while registering and throughout the show will go to the Oklahoma City Chapter of Black Lives Matter!

Andrea Benjamin, Ph.D. is Associate Professor in the Clara Luper Department of African and African American Studies at the University of Oklahoma. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Michigan in 2010. Her research interests include Race and Politics, Local Elections and Voting behavior, and Public Opinion

Moiya McTier is an astrophysicist and folklorist based in NYC. She studies planets outside of our solar system and is an expert in fictional worldbuilding. To see how she combines the two, check out her podcast, Exolore, where she invites experts to help her imagine life on alien planets.
