SRFF was founded in 2013 by actress/filmmaker Nora Armani in a response to the proliferation of violence and violent forms of storytelling. SRFF is a non-profit 501(c)3 film festival whose mission is to promote filmmakers who produce socially relevant™ film content. Over 400 films from 35 countries have been screened to date. Spokespersons of SR Socially Relevant™ Film Festival NY include Amy Goodman of Democracy Now, Erin Brockovich, Martin Sheen, Pulitzer Prize and Tony award-winner Robert Schenkkan, best-selling French novelist Marc Levy, Academy Award Nominee and Emmy Award Winner Guy Davidi, American TV person and author Gretchen Carlson. The Eighth edition of SR Socially Relevant™ Film Festival New York opens online March 15 and closes March 21, 2021. SRFF has screened over 400 films from 35 countries to date. Submissions are from all over the world. SRFF is a 501 c 3 non-profit film festival designed to shine a spotlight on international and local filmmakers who raise awareness of social issues. SRFF covers a broad range of socially relevant™ stories about racism, prejudice and discrimination, climate change, social injustice, immigration, empowering women and girls, human trafficking, indigenous rights, youth and children, disability, homelessness, LGBTQ rights and more.
