The Workers Circle Presents: Redefining Jewish Orthodoxy Through the Arts: Book Talk with Guest Artists
Join the Workers Circle as we explore the contributions of female artists within the Yiddish-speaking world and also those who have left religion to become public performers. Jessica Roda’s new book For Women and Girls Only: Reshaping Jewish Orthodoxy Through the Arts in the Digital Age is the first publication to focus on the ultra-Orthodox female art scene in music, film, and dance across North America and on social media. You will meet Jessica Roda, the book’s author, Malky Weingarten, a Hasidic filmmaker, and Malky Goldman, who has starred in Yiddish themed film, theater, and television shows for secular audiences.
