This summer, the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) is once again bringing its iconic NYC classrooms to your location through virtual long and short-term Precollege online classes. The programs provide middle and high school students with virtual experiential learning, and offers parents, K-12 educators, and youth organizations an insightful lens into FIT's majors and the wide-ranging industries FIT serves. The courses are taught by renowned FIT faculty and cover diverse fields including fashion, advertising, photography, merchandising, illustration, interior design, fine arts, and more.

High School Summer LIVE Courses for Students Entering Grades 9-12 Begin July 6 Over 20 “LIVE” courses that represent specific FIT majors are taught remotely (EST) over the course of 10/11 days. Summer 2021 highlights include: · Drawing for Designers: Basics: Learn the basics of drawing the croquis (a women's wear fashion figure) and how to apply garment silhouettes using the industry's technical drawing standards. Develop the skills for drawing proportions and dimensionality that are necessary for portfolio submissions. · Fashion Business: Trend Forecasting: Fashion forecasting focuses on global fashion trends and is the driving force of the fashion world. Learn how to research the past, scrutinize consumer habits, analyze cultural influences, and understand trend cycles to predict future fashion trends. You will create your own presentation of upcoming trends with silhouettes and color samples. · Sewing for Designers: Basics: Build your confidence and skills by creating a sample of various hems and seams on an industrial sewing machine. By the end of this course you'll be able to successfully create a simple top or drawstring pants.
