Class: Curry and Cocktails with James Beard Award–Winning Chef Chutatip “Nok” Suntaranon
Born and raised in Southern Thailand, chef Chutatip “Nok” Suntaranon traveled the world experiencing bold flavors and an array of ingredients before settling in Philadelphia. There she channeled the cuisine of her homeland with the opening of her restaurant, Kalaya, which earned her the 2023 James Beard Award for Best Chef: Mid-Atlantic.
In this hands-on class, chef Nok will guide guests through the process of making her curry, inspired by the flavors of her childhood in Trang in southern Thailand. Attendees will learn step-by-step how to prepare the curry paste from scratch and assemble the final dish with chef Nok’s handmade noodles. You’ll be amazed by the butterfly pea flower, which lends a vibrant purple hue to both the noodles and the bespoke cocktail prepared with Conniption Kinship Gin from Durham Distillery.
