Rain or Shine Plainview Old Bethpage Middle School 121 Central Park Rd Plainview, NY 11803 Hosted by friends and family of Rebecca Koltun Supported by the Plainview Water District

ABOUT Thank you for your interest in the second annual Rally for Rebecca 5K Walk, Run, Roll. Proceeds from the event will support the nonprofit organization Help Hope Live, in honor of Plainview resident Rebecca Koltun. Participants are invited to join virtually or in person.

On March 13, 2021, Rebecca, then 21 years old, suffered catastrophic injuries to her neck and spinal cord in a life-threatening ski accident. Today, she remains paralyzed from the neck down.

The cost of Rebecca’s medical care is staggering. She requires round-the-clock care from specially trained nursing staff, as well as regular physical, occupational and respiratory therapies. The equipment she needs just to get through the day includes a custom wheelchair, adapted van, electronic hospital bed and Hoyer lift, and a host of medical supplies – all of which require ongoing maintenance and replenishment. The cost of her care exceeded $1 million in the year after her injury and will likely approach $200-300k/year for the rest of her life. You can find more information about Rebecca’s story and the cost of caring for a spinal care injury here.

From the very beginning, Rebecca's community of family and friends from around the globe have rallied to her support with kindness and generosity. Whether you choose to Rally for Rebecca as a Sponsor, Participant, Volunteer or simply by making a donation, Rebecca, her brother Erik and her parents (Audrey and Scott Koltun), are forever grateful for whatever support you can offer.
