Poster House First Friday
Poster House, the first museum in the United States dedicated to the global history of posters, will host its monthly “First Friday” event on June 2, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM at Poster House, 119 West 23rd Street in Manhattan. Poster House will be offering free admission and extended hours for guests to explore the museum’s latest exhibitions.
Poster House’s First Fridays feature unique opportunities such as tours, workshops, performances, and activities, to further engage visitors with the exhibitions. This First Friday, come celebrate Pride at Poster House with their LGBTQIA+ themed offerings:
• 2:00 PM : Join Made in Japan curator Erin Schoneveld for an in-person tour of the exhibition and explore the role of posters during modern Japan’s cultural and political shifts.
• 3:00 PM: Taro’s Origami Studio will host an origami workshop where participants will create their very own Pride-themed paper sculpture.
• 5:30 PM: Join artist and designer Acacia Rodrgiuez for a Pride poster workshop. Participants will get to design and make their own posters for all their upcoming Pride festivities. Materials will be provided.
• 7:00 PM: Poster House will welcome Dev Doee and Shia Ho for a very special evening of drag performances in response to our two exhibitions Black Power to Black People: Branding the Black Panther Party and Made in Japan: 20th-Century Poster Art.
