Special fan only previews on June 22 to 24 sold out in 45 minutes as did added dates in July. Due to the overwhelming response August dates are on sale now. No Reason to Cry’s run will begin in mid-August with an opening night TBD. Tickets for August 15th to 31st are on sale at Ticket Central: https://bit.ly/2tCL7tl. Now, a total of 30 shows have been announced with June fan only previews completely sold and the same for added shows in July. The public response has been so overwhelmingly positive to the previews an August run has been added and is on sale. The show intimately connects with audience emotion, tells Torres’ story, focusing on her journey overcoming financial, social, and physical obstacles to realize her dream of becoming a professional singer. “Judy’s brave and vulnerable performance showcases her surprising comedic timing and her ability to connect with theatergoers on a deep emotional level,” said Executive Producer, Jay Manuel. “Clever use of memorable music from Judy’s career is intermixed with familiar sound cues that inspired her eventual climb to success while struggling with a complicated life out of the Bronx, NY.” Even without socio-economic advantages, Torres landed her first record deal in 1987, making history for pioneering what was widely considered a brand-new and urban-contagious genre: Freestyle. “Since her first hit single, also entitled No Reason to Cry, Judy connects with her fans in a very special and intimate way. She’s unique and has an unbridled charisma, while being a thoroughly authentic storyteller. These unique qualities are what drive the excitement behind this new one woman show,” opined Executive Producer, David Miskin. While her newfound success took her on the ride of a lifetime, No Reason to Cry explores her struggle with the complexities of fame, including bullying, failed relationships, the diagnosis of an incurable disease, and lifelong battle with depression. “The depression was the result of feeling that I had no outlet to express my true emotions. After battling my own demons and courageously doing the hard work, I finally found an expressional vehicle by using my own voice. By telling my truth and journey, I ultimately hope that it inspires others to find a way to express who they are and find their own power, ultimately realizing there’s no reason to cry,” said Torres, star and writer of the show. No Reason to Cry is written and performed by Judy Torres and directed by Emmanuel E. Hernandez (Choreography: John Leguizamo: Ghetto Klown at the Lyceum Theatre/HBO and Latin History for Morons at Studio 54). Executive Producers are Jay Manuel (Executive Producer, TV Personality and Entrepreneur) and David Miskin (Brand Strategist, Creative Director). Associate Producer, Raquel Bruno (Former MTV Talent Exec and founder of Drive Entertainment Group).
