14-12-2017 12:00:00 14-12-2017 12:00:00 America/New_York Maris | 6:30 PM While preparing for a local gig, singer/songwriter Maris and her mother Dawn were going through some cover song options to add to her show, when her mom suggested the Bart Howard classic, "Fly Me To The Moon", one of Frank Sinatra's best-known classics. The rest as they say is internet history. In less than 24 hours a playful performance of Maris doing the song in her mother's kitchen went viral with now over 57,000 retweets, 170,000 likes, and adding so many comments it crashed her cell phone, even Kikkoman Soy Sauce, the bottle Maris uses as microphone got into the act. But this isn't the only life-changing moment for the young artist. Prior to the online explosion of "Fly Me To The Moon," Maris who hails from Missoula Montana has released two previous albums and recorded a version of Dolly Parton's classic song "Jolene," which has just passed a half a million views on YouTube as part of Scott Bradlee's Post Modern Jukebox. In recognition, Dolly sent Maris an autographed photo. More recently Maris was awarded first place in the category Guitar/Vocals in American Protege's International Music Talent Competition which will earn her a performance December 16th at New York's illustrious Carnegie Hall. Her new single, "Liar" is already impacting her social media platforms as well as streaming services like Spotify. Pandora and SoundCloud. Maris is currently in pre-production on songs for her new EP, Lovelust, which will be released in late Fall. She will be making her live debut in New York December 14t here at Rockwood Music Hall's Stage Three as a musician and a New York resident. http://www.cityguideny.com/eventinfo.cfm?id=264583 Rockwood Music Hall Stage 3 Rockwood Music Hall Stage 3
