Join us for Transgender Day of Remembrance, a special Galaxy Wellness Session which will spotlight the voices and stories of the trans community. Transgender Day of Remembrance is an annual observance that honors the memory of the transgender people whose lives were lost in acts of anti-transgender violence. It’s an opportunity for the community and its allies to come together and raise awareness about the persistent prejudice of trans and gender-variant people.

This session will include a commemoration, an artist performance, intimate storytelling, and a town hall-style discussion curated by the TransLash team and Imara Jones (@imara_jones_), journalist, creator and producer of TransLash Media. TransLash is a multi-episode, cross-platform project that focuses on what it’s like to transition and be trans—particularly a trans person of color—at a time of social backlash.

The evening will begin with a spoken word performance by artist and poet Miss Mojo (@mojodisco), followed by a commemoration of transgender individuals who have lost their lives because of hate. Then, Melania Brown, sister of Layleen Polanco, a trans woman of color who died while in solitary confinement in Rikers Island, will join Imara Jones on stage for an intimate fireside chat. We will share pre-recorded stories from Mulani Jackson (@mulanijackson), a trans woman, and Jayy Covert (@alifeofpride), who is non-binary, followed by an open discussion and Q&A led by moderator Imara Jones.

Meet both community members and allies. Share your voice or take meaningful photos at our create space. Join this heartfelt #SamsungExperience and listen to inspirational stories through the intimate experience of the transgender community.
