Dear Composers Concert at Scandinavia House
Musician's Club of New York's

5th Annual "Dear Composers" Concert

Sunday, November 24th 3:30 p.m. at Scandinavia HouseThe Musicians Club of New York (MCNY) will present the fifth annual "Dear Composers" concert on Sunday, November 24th, 3:30 p.m., at Scandinavia House (58 Park Avenue bet. 37-38th Street). This unique series in classical music features performances of compositions by beloved, recently deceased composers; the work of each composer is introduced with enlightening commentary by the composers’ family members. The series, which includes a diverse mix of American Composers, is curated by Jean Townsend, widow of composer and musicologist Douglas Townsend. Ms. Townsend created the original concept for the series and volunteers her time to produce the yearly event. This year's concert presents the music of the following wonderful American composers (all of whom have passed within recent years): Katherine HOOVER, George WALKER (First African American Pulitzer winner/son Gregory, and author, will speak and perform his father’s work), Seymour BARAB, Douglas TOWNSEND, and Norman DELLO JOIO (Pulitzer winner/son composer, Justin, will speak) and Barbara YORK.
