Asiya Wadud’s Echo Exhibit
Due to the coronavirus, please call to ensure this event is still happening before you leave home.
Listening is an art—now more than ever—and the launch of Asiya Wadud’s ECHO EXHIBIT places communication front and center throughout the Seaport. The Installations of poems, crafted from quarantine conversations between strangers, is part of River to River, the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council’s (LMCC) annual summer festival that celebrates the city’s resilience. Earlier this summer, members of the downtown community were invited to speak with a poet to seed the conversations that would become the poems of ECHO EXHIBIT. Visual representations of the poems designed by Shannon Finnegan can now be found scattered around the Seaport, with new poems installed each week through the summer. The poems of ECHO EXHIBIT capture the ideas, textures and sensations of a particular interaction during the uncertainties and challenges of this present moment. We invite you to celebrate and reflect on these mutual experiences, both personally and as a community.
Venue: Seaport District NYC
