The soloists are reimagined, in Lau's vision, as four virtues, as was typical in operas and oratorios of Handel's time -- but these "virtues" are instead the values Lau sees as crucial to our global health and happiness in 2018: Community, Compassion, Natural World, and Patience. Where Handel relied heavily on Old Testament prophets like Isaiah, Lau sets the words of Martin Luther King, Jr; Sojourner Truth; the Dalai Lama; and other modern prophets to achieve this re-conceptualization of Handel's masterpiece for our modern world. The program is rounded out by seasonal selections both cherished and new, and includes special guests from one of our partner institutions, the Collegiate School, who will perform with the Chorale as well as offer two selections of their own. Tickets are available at www.nycmasterchorale.org/box, and start at $25. http://www.cityguideny.com/eventinfo.cfm?id=338439 St. Jean Baptiste Church St. Jean Baptiste Church
