Now the leader of the Corrymeela Community, Ireland’s oldest peace and reconciliation organization, Ó Tuama has worked in Ireland, the UK, Australia, Uganda, and the United States addressing homophobia and so-called “cure therapies.” During this special poetry event, Ó Tuama will share poems and stories about the impact of such measures on LGBTQ identities. Sharing defiant sonnets and lyric poetry, this event will be both poetry and protest. Doors open at 6:30pm. Program begins at 7pm, followed by a reception and book signing. Copies of Ó Tuama’s In the Shelter will be available for purchase. Proceeds from ticket and books sales will benefit Trinity Place, a shelter for LGBTQ youth experiencing homelessness.
