"That's a lovely voice there…like melted chocolate" —Grace Black, K107fm "Singular mastery with buttery gravitas and sheer elegance" —Raul de Gama, Jazz da Gama "A voice smooth as, well, velvet" —Geno Thackara, All About Jazz A solid, big-voiced jazz baritone (à la Hartman or Eckstine), E.J. Decker has performed nationally and played nearly all of NYC's top jazz rooms, gliding easily from jazz through folk to '50s R&B and blues, while standing among today's strongest male interpreters of ballads. His albums have garnered uniformly strong critical praise and continue to receive worldwide airplay. From 2005 to 2014, E.J. brought together a revolving cast of more than 160 of NY's top jazz artists in the annual The September Concert: The Heart of Jazz for 9/11, a free concert that honored those we lost on NY's most fateful day, created an ongoing prayer for peace, and offered the gift of solace and healing through music from NY's jazz community to our fellow New Yorkers. Chris Bergson was inducted into the New York Blues Hall of Fame in February 2015. Over the course of eight critically acclaimed albums and decades of live performances, NY guitarist/singer Chris Bergson has established himself as "one of the most inventive songwriters in modern blues music" (All Music Guide.) Chris has performed with Levon Helm, Hubert Sumlin, Norah Jones and John Hammond, as well as jazz legends Annie Ross and drummer Al Foster (Miles Davis), and has opened for B.B. King, Etta James and Bettye LaVette, to name just a few. Named a Jazz Ambassador in 2002, his Chris Bergson Band has sold out renowned venues such as NYC's Jazz Standard and his many European tours have led him to become an international festival favorite. Hilliard Greene performs widely in recitals, nightclubs, concert halls (including Carnegie Hall), recording studios, radio and television throughout the U.S., Canada, Europe, Asia, the West Indies and South America. Hilliard performed and recorded with Jimmy Scott for 20+ years and was his Musical Director from 1995 to 2013. He was Cecil Taylor's Concert Master for his group, "Phtongos," and served a long-time residency at the legendary Minton's Playhouse as house bassist. He's played with Kenny Barron, Cindy Blackman, T.K. Blue, Joanne Brackeen, Oscar Brown Jr., Jon Hendricks, Gloria Lynne, Vanessa Rubin and Bobby Watson, among others. Hilliard has produced three CDs with his own ensemble The Jazz Expressions, a solo bass CD entitled "Alone," and a new CD this month, featuring Negro Spirituals related to the Underground Railroad.
