An Unsung Symphony: Simon & Brahms
In another collaboration with The New York Philharmonic Orchestra, we welcome J’nai Bridges in an exciting New York premiere of Carlos Simon’s Songs of Separation. Along with texts of Persian poet, Jalāl al-Dīn Muḥammad Rūmī, Simon’s music encompasses beauty, depth, polarity, and an overall human experience illustrated quite vividly.
The Unsung embraces Johannes Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem, a true masterpiece. Welcoming soprano Brittany Renee of the Metropolitan Opera and baritone Phillip Bullock, the performance of this piece channels the humanness of intimacy, longing, motivation, and the power of influence.
Both works illustrate a powerful human experience and highlight the dynamic influence of women in one’s life.
