Know Your "Back Story"
Event Name: Know Your “Back Story” Event
Event Detail:
Who: If you’re 50 years or older and have chronic low back and leg pain
What: Join us for a free event and complementary luncheon at an interactive and educational experience, as we introduce Know Your Back Story — a national health awareness campaign that aims to help millions of people with low back and leg pain, specifically those with lumbar spinal stenosis or LSS that is caused by an enlarged ligament, and rewrite your “back story!”
When: Wednesday, 6/22, from 3:00-5:00 PM EST
Where: The Altman Building, 135 West 18th Street in NYC
Why: Lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS) is a condition in which the lower spinal canal narrows and compresses the nerves in the lower back. Up to 85% of spinal canal narrowing is caused by an enlarged ligament.1 People with LSS typically experience a variety of symptoms that affect daily life, including low back and leg pain and limited mobility. People with LSS often feel pain, numbness, tingling, or heaviness when standing or walking that is relieved by sitting, bending forward, or sleeping curled in the fetal position.
At The Event, You Will:
Tour educational exhibits & the #LookForTheLigament Experiential Mobile Unit Learn about our Landmark Survey - Mobility Matters: Low Back Pain in America and the first-ever Mobility Index, which demonstrate how people should be moving through the decades of their lives without chronic low back pain Interact with Motion Memoir iPads, featuring our writing program, developed with award-winning author, certified therapist, and founder of the National Association of Memoir Writers (NAMW), Dr. Linda Joy Meyers, with tips that encourage you to write your own memoir vignette tracing your history of low back and leg pain so your next chapter might be pain free.
Don’t write off your low back and leg pain. Rewrite your back story!
