BBC World Service will be in New York to record a live special edition of The Lazarus Heist on Monday 26 September, 2022. The Lazarus Heist, the hit BBC World Service podcast, tells the true story of an attempted $1 billion hack on the digital vaults of Bangladesh Bank (the country’s central bank), which investigators say was carried out by a secret ring of elite North Korean hackers. It’s claimed they were trying to bring huge amounts of money back to Kim Jong-un’s secretive state. North Korea says it “has nothing to do at all” with cyber threats or money laundering and says that the accusations are American attempts to tarnish its image. In the live show, the podcast’s presenters, Jean Lee and Geoff White, will be in conversation with special guests. Audience members will have the chance to ask their burning questions about the making of the podcast. Listeners from around the world are also being invited to send in their questions. The event will be hosted by musician and writer, Dessa – who is host of her own fantastic podcast, Deeply Human. The Lazarus Heist Live show, is a free event and takes place in the Greene Space in New York on Monday 26 September, 2022. If you would like to send in a question to be answered at the event, please send your voice to the BBC at: https://www.bbc.co.uk/send/u121004996. The live show will be released as an episode of The Lazarus Heist in October 2022 and will be available on BBC Sounds and via most podcast and audio streaming apps. The team is also working on a second season of The Lazarus Heist, scheduled to be launched later this year.
