Maurice "Reggie" Smith talks in a quiet tone that hides a vibrant singing voice hearkening back to the days of greats like Smokey Robinson. His craft: lush ballads and sensuous mid-tempo songs. His flavor: contemporary gospel with a hint of R&B. His tool: singing straight from the heart until listeners feel it in their hearts. A self-taught singer, Maurice chooses to be involved in every step in making the music that he loves to sing. Working with a smooth falsetto, he calls upon the poetry and finesse of Steve Wonder, the classic groove of The Isley Brothers and the gut-tugging of Teddy Pendergrass, to come up with a funk-laden jazzy-gospel set that includes music ranging from love and respect on Main Street, to walking hand in hand in the 'Hood. His voice has opened the door for him to share the stage with some of the greatest artists of our time, permitting him to glean wisdom, understanding, and experience. He's worked with Estelle, Sinead O'Connor, Robin Gibb from the Bee Gee's, Tears for Fears, Kim Wilde, Simple Minds, and gospel artists: James Hall and Dorinda Clark-Cole, just to name a few. His road to paying his dues includes appearances on BET'S "Bobby Jones Gospel" and "106 & Park", NBC's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" and the De Laatste Show in Brussels, Belgium. Maurice has also traveled to perform at many churches nationally and internationally with his church choir The Voices of Citadel, as well as Angels in Harlem Gospel Choir and The New York Gospel Stars. Maurice toured in countries such as Dubai, Canada, Sweden, Belgium, Amsterdam, Germany, London, St. Lucia, and Aruba and of course his home base – the good old United States. Maurice acknowledges the contribution of his spiritual father, Pastor Kevin Brown, who took him under his wing at a young age, touring and ministering to the youth worldwide in a group called "Members Own-ly". On tour, Pastor Kevin, formally known as "General," poured into him spiritual guidance and truth. It was with him, Maurice developed a global vision for his music career and a passion for people worldwide. OTB(Off The Block)Productions is now partnering with Maurice to build upon this legacy, as he looks to use his smooth as honey, yet solid as a rock sound to capture audiences. He released his first single "You're All I Want" on June 3rd, 2014 at the famous Village Underground, Black Velvet Mondays, hosted by music veteran Cheryl "Pepsii" Riley and the Black Chocolate band.
