STATUESQUE: Shining a Light on BIPOC LGBTQ+ Trailblazers: Marsha P. Johnson, Sylvia Rivera and Stormé DeLarverie. Fundraising for the First Statue Honoring a Trans Person in New Jersey Commemorating Marsha P. Johnson

A drag celebration of BIPOC LGBTQ+ heroes, Marsha P. Johnson, Sylvia Rivera, and Stormé DeLarverie, at the Stonewall Inn, the place where it all began. The event, which is sponsored by The New School, will draw attention to the epidemic of violence against trans women of color that remains more than 50 years later. Legendary Queen, Harmonica Sunbeam, will host and headline a BIPOC drag lineup to raise funds for a statue of Marsha P. Johnson in her hometown of Elizabeth, NJ, the first-ever recognizing a trans person in the state. There will also be a special vogue performance honoring O’Shea Sibley by Blair. Other performers will include: ballroom icon, Egyptt LaBeijaMisty Mountains Davenport - Miss Stonewall 2023Harriet Tugsmen - MX Rockbar 2023Uncle Freak, and pianist, Lyra Vega. Music by DJ Chauncey D. The New School is proud to support this event which recognizes a key cultural moment in the history of our Greenwich Village neighborhood and its legacy as a place of activism.

100% of funds raised will go directly to the GoFundMe for the statue.

TIME: 7:00 - 9:00pm (Doors open at 6:45pm, show starts at 7:15pm)
