BEING SOMEBODY is a father-daughter tour de force of storytelling, music, and song about growing up as a "skinny Jewish kid” in Brooklyn in the postwar gleam of the 1940s and as a “scrappy young girl” in the gritty disco era of the 1970s.

Led by Dr. Howard Mase, a beloved coach, mentor, and psychologist (making his captivating stage debut at the age of 87), and his daughter, recording artist-playwright-performer, Marla Mase, this duo takes the audience on an intimate, emotionally charged and at times hilarious journey back in time to the struggles and challenges of coming of age (warring family members, stomachaches, emerging body parts and the ‘problem’ of virginity... to name a few) in what is ultimately a celebration of life, love, family, and the power of never giving up.

A coming-of-age tale that reminds us that we never stop growing and we never stop becoming….
