The Xoregos Performing Company's Quilting the Sun by Grace Cavalieri, is a play in the 2019 Dream Up Festival at Theater for the New City, 155 First Avenue at 10 Street, Lower Manhattan. Quilting the Sun is the story of Harriet Powers (1837-1910), born a slave, whose quilts now hang in museums. It depicts rural life in Georgia in the Nineteenth Century in the aftermath of the Civil War. Shela Xoregos directs the cast of nine.
Quilting the Sun will have six performances from September 3 to September 11 in the Johnson Theater. Admission is $20.00 (cash only) at the door, or in advance from brownpapertickets.com.
