Book Club Presentation and Live Oral History Interview With International Bestselling Author Yvette Manessis Corporon at Thespis Theater
The Greek Elder Care Network™ will host a special Book Club presentation and live oral history interview with International Bestselling Author and Emmy Award-winning Producer Yvette Manessis Corporon. This event, in partnership with the Hellenic-American Project (HAP), will take place on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at the THESPIS Theater in Astoria, NY.

The event will feature a presentation of the author’s latest novel, ‘Daughter of Ruins’ (Harper Muse, 2024). There will be a book signing followed by a live interview conducted by Dr. Nicholas Alexiou, Founder and Director of HAP and Professor of Sociology at Queens College. The interview is part of his ongoing work documenting the Greek American experience preserving Greek American history.

Yvette Manessis Corporon is the author of ‘When the Cypress Whispers’, ‘Something Beautiful Happened’, and ‘Where the Wandering Ends’. In addition to her literary success, she's a three-time Emmy Award-winning journalist and is currently the senior supervising producer for EXTRA.

Her latest, 'Daughter of Ruins', came out October 8. Set in Corfu and Kefalonia, and partially in America, 'Daughter of Ruins' examines the experiences of women in Greece in the 1920s and 1950 and provides a glimpse at the early Greek-American experience for women. Yvette culled inspiration from Greek history, culture, traditions, and myth to craft a sweeping tale.

The event will take place Saturday, November 16, 2024 at the THESPIS Theater, 25-02 Newtown Ave., Astoria, NY. The book signing will begin at 5:00 pm and the interview will follow promptly at 5:30 pm. Attendees will be part of a live studio audience recording that will be archived as part of HAP’s research recognized by the U.S. Library of Congress. Tickets are free but are limited. Reserve via email at info@greekeldercarenetwork.com or call/text +1 929.289.6222.

Books will be available for purchase at the event and online at greekeldercarenetwork.com.
