Artist Highlight: Dylan Ng
The exhibition is an exploration of paint as an action. Comprised of distant yet intimate portraits of familiar and unknown figures, they become the conduit through which I get to explore ‘paint’ as a verb. To define, to contradict, to engage, to attack, to pause, to subvert, to scrutinize, to surprise, to oppose, to deconstruct, to abstract, to realize, to love, to complete, to do. To paint someone or something is to love them, at least for a little. To carve them out of paint; follow the curvature of an arm or a hip; to know the upturn of the mouth or know how the hand rests on their side; to think about them constantly till you are satisfied
