Anwar 'Notes' Overton --- R&B Instrumental
Anwar "Notes" Overton fell in love with the sounds of Jethro Hull, Herbie Mann, and Greg Patillo; whom he had the pleasure of meeting. Greg Patillo took a personal interest in "NOTES" and shared with him that it was possible to Bee Bop on the flute and deliver a smooth, peaceful sound at the same time! By the time he reached Intermediate School, he was a member of Meyer Levin's School Concert Band. Playing the flute during Middle School and High School was therapy for "NOTES." It was his way to escape the rough streets of Brooklyn, yet create a positive synergy with fellow students his age and older. "NOTES" later graduated from USF (University of South Florida) where he played in the Marching Band. As a professional artist, he has had the pleasure of gracing the stage with various musicians and bands; playing weddings, indoor and outdoor festivals, recording, as well as clubs and lounges about town.
