Friday, June 2, 2023, is the fifth annual Dumbo Drop, Dumbo’s signature tradition: a flying elephant fundraising spectacle and block party. Thousands of parachuting toy elephants will make their way from the rooftops surrounding Washington Street at 6pm and 7pm. Individuals can enter one of both Dumbo Drop events for a chance to win significant neighborhood prizes including: a stay at 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge and dinner at The Osprey; a summer of cocktails at the newly opened Gair on Washington Street; a private party for twenty at Beat the Bomb; a Taste of Front Street dining package; a free six month membership to Gleason’s Gym; and a Summer of Coffee gift certificate to Joe Coffee. Each year’s elephants feature a uniquely designed parachute by a neighborhood artist. This year’s parachute is designed by Lucky Risograph. Individuals can enter online by visiting https://dumbobrooklyn.square.site. Entries are on sale for $25, which include a limited edition parachute & toy elephant, along with the 2023 souvenir calendar and $20, which includes the 2023 souvenir calendar; both the parachute and calendar are designed by Lucky Risograph. Winners will be announced from the mainstage after each Drop and on Instagram at @dumbo_brooklyn; individuals who enter the contest do not have to be present to win. Onlookers can gather to watch the Drop events at the corner of Washington and Water Streets. Proceeds from the #DUMBDROP support Dumbo’s Title 1 STEAM Schools, PS307 Elementary School and The Dock Street Middle School.
