20-10-2018 12:00:00 20-10-2018 12:00:00 America/New_York Crafts in Chelsea 2018 As the leaves turn color and the days become brisk, PS 11 and The NY Handmade Collective (NYHC, formerly ‘The Etsy New York Street Team’) are back again to capture the spirit of the harvest with two fabulous fall celebrations on one block, steps from the iconic High Line Park and located in the middle of the historic Chelsea neighborhood in Manhattan. NYHC, a vibrant collective of multi-discipline artisans from the metro area, and PS 11, The William T Harris school, will team up again to present for the whole community a tremendous array of activities for young and old alike; bouncy castles, food, games and raffles for the kids (and the kids at heart!) and for the grown-ups, a wonderful, affordable artisan market full of handmade-only products from local designers. Products at the market this year include handcrafted fine and fashion jewelry for every taste, paper goods and stationery for that special person or occasion, and an amazing variety of unique clothing and accessories for both children and adults. The market will also feature all-natural and eco-friendly candles and skincare products in wonderfully original scents and pretty hand-sewn linens for your fall table. As if this weren’t enough, NYHC will also feature a selection of unique, funky and cool original art and accessories as well as fun, retro-inspired housewares. Nobody visiting the Crafts in Chelsea at PS 11 Fall Festival this October 20th, whether you are a local or visitor, will want to leave without stopping to scoop up something locally made from one of these real New York makers as a token of their experience. At this year's Crafts in Chelsea event, NYHC will also sponsor a team table with tons of insightful information about the incredible difference vendors and supporters of handmade make to their communities and beyond. This table will be staffed by enthusiastic and engaged team members who are excited to answer visitors' questions on all things handmade. Through the support of shoppers who care who they purchase from, handmade artisans are able to add tremendous social capital to their communities everyday, including just by connecting to people with a personal touch that is so rare in today's digital and global marketplace. Please make sure to stop by the team table and say hi when you come for a visit. Crafts in Chelsea is also for a good cause; all artist vendor fees and festival proceeds directly benefit the children and the art enrichment programs at PS 11. http://www.cityguideny.com/eventinfo.cfm?id=330111 West 21st Street, between 8th and 9th Avenue West 21st Street, between 8th and 9th Avenue
