ON STAGE: ZABELÊ IN THE GALLERY: ANA BIAL --------------------------------------------------------- GETTING TO THE ARCHWAY The Dumbo Archway is a public plaza underneath the Manhattan Bridge in DUMBO, Brooklyn. It’s on Water St between Anchorage Place and Adams St. --------------------------------------------------------- THE MUSIC! ZABELE. Zabelê’s new album and show comes from the artists desire to revere and perpetuate the work of her parents: Baby do Brasil and Pepeu Gomes, icons of the revolutionary group Novos Baianos. Zabelê has meticulously chosen an electrifying and extremely rich set list with great hits. Among them hits of Brazilian Pop music, the successes of the now defunct group SNZ, from which she began her career. The event features a pop up gallery by Rio de Janeiro visual artist Ana Bial and curated by Gisela Guieros. --------------------------------------------------------- THE ART! ANA BIAL. Ana Bial is a Brazilian visual artist living and working in Brooklyn. Bial works in painting, sculpture and installation. Recent shows include vitrinevitrine.com, an online exhibition in collaboration with curator Victor Gorgulho, and Possible Disasters at Residency Unlimited in New York City. She also recently curated A Musician’s Day at Neighborhood Gallery in New York City with artist Marcy Cruthirds. Bial is represented by Gisela Projects. Ana Bial’s site specific installation for “The Gallery” is composed of a collection of discarded materials the artist has collected over a span of ten years. --------------------------------------------------------- BRASIL SUMMERFEST is the country’s premier contemporary Brazilian music & arts festival showcasing some of Brazil’s most dynamic artists, as well as film screenings, art displays, talks and special events that celebrate the diverse cultural offerings of Brazil. --------------------------------------------------------- SPECIAL THANKS Live at the Archway is generously supported by Sixpoint!
