About World Photography Day:

Celebrated every year on August 19th, World Photography Day is a day to pay tribute to the art of photography, photographers and their impact in the world. Additionally, with its evolution to today’s photo-friendly culture, photography is an ever-present part of our lives. Historically speaking, August 19, 1839 is the day that the French government is believed to have purchased the patent for the daguerreotype, the first-ever photographic process, and made it free to the world.

About Fotografiska:

Fotografiska New York is a destination for photography, culture, and surprising new perspectives, located in a treasured landmark building in NYC’s Flatiron District. The Museum offers an unexpected mix of world-class art, vibrant cultural programming, exceptional dining experiences, nightlife, music, and curated retail.

Founded in 2010 in Stockholm, Fotografiska aims to inspire a more conscious world through the power of photography, bring people together, raise awareness and create positive change. The museum showcases the greatest photographers, whether they’re emerging artists or already established internationally. Beyond the celebration of photography, Fotografiska offers inclusive spaces for conversation and community. We believe in creating a common ground that welcomes everyone to stay late, connect, and get deep.
