8/22 - 9/4: Tomatina Festival at Mercado Little Spain https://www.littlespain.com/news-item/tomatina-returns-to-mercado/ La Tomatina, Spain's most famous food fight, takes place in the humble city of Buñol during the last Wednesday of every August. Over 150,000 tomatoes serve as "weapons" in city, but at Mercado Little Spain, tomatoes become the centerpiece of specialty tapas and cocktails to honor the occasion. Embrace the spirit of La Tomatina at this annual late Summer celebration with the season's most indulgent fruit: the tomato! See below for each location's special tomato-centric offerings. On August 31st, Spanish Diner will also have special music, and each space will be filled with gorgeous tomatoes. Special Tomato-Centric Offerings: Spanish Diner: * El Gazpacho y su liturgia: The very famous Spanish chilled tomato and vegetable soup served with croutons and brunoised vegetables

* Tomates verdes fritos con queso mamá Marisa, huevos fritos y patatas: Fried green tomatoes with Asturian blue cheese, fried eggs and potatoes

* Tomate en escabeche: Campari tomatoes pickled in smokey escabeche sauce

* En España los tomates se comen así: Served simply with extra virgin olive oil, salt, and pepper Mar: * Salmorejo con boquerones: Salmorejo (Andalucian cold spread made with tomato, olive oil bread, garlic), heirloom tomatoes, pickled white anchovies, and breadsticks

* Tomates al Natural con Bacalao ahumado Carpier: Heirloom tomato salad with smoked and cured codfish made in Catalunya

* Tomates secos y ahumados con mejillones en escabeche: Dried and smoked tomatoes, mussels pickled in smoked escabeche sauce Leña: * Tomates aliñados con Anchoas de Santoña: Heirloom tomatoes, sherry dressing, and anchovies from Santoña

* Tomate a la brasa con grasa de txuleton: Grilled tomato brushed with melted dry aged ribeye fat La Barra: * Ensalada de tomate: Heirloom tomatoes, spring onion, sherry dressing

* Salmorejo con boquerones: Salmorejo (Andalucian cold spread made with tomato, olive oil bread, garlic), heirloom tomatoes, pickled white anchovies, and breadsticks

* Tomate con Mejillones en escabeche: Campari tomatoes and mussels pickled in smoked escabeche sauce And for dessert at all locations: * Pan con tomate: Tomato and vanilla jam, bread ice cream, olive oil, and caramelized bread
