Emily Mullin at Rockefeller Center
Rockefeller Center and Art Production Fund continue their Art in Focus partnership with the presentation of work by Brooklyn-based artist Emily Mullin throughout the Rockefeller Center campus. The installation is free and open to the public, and will be on display until September 2nd.
Internationally recognized for her installations that bring together ceramics, photography, abstraction, vibrant color, and live floral elements, Mullin references the tradition of still life painting while exploring the relationship between flat image, object, and real space. At Rockefeller Center, Mullin exhibits both still-life photography of her ceramic vessels and live floral installations, along with the physical vessels on display. Alluding to the human body, each vessel is purposely shaped with irregularities to emphasize its uniqueness. The florals seen in the vinyl murals, are a symbolic representation of the natural world, which also serve as an offering from the artist.
Since its inception nearly a century ago, Rockefeller Center has housed hundreds of priceless works of art hidden in plain sight, including, for a limited time, Brooklyn-based artist Emily Mullin’s colorful photographs, gorgeous ceramic work, and live floral installations throughout 10, 30, 45, and 50 Rockefeller Plazas, and up on top of the world at Top of the Rock. Presented in Partnership with Art Production Fund, Emily’s work can be seen for free throughout the Rockefeller Center Campus, and ticket holders visiting Top of the Rock will be greeted with additional pieces from Mullin’s collection.
