Tamburlaine, Parts I and II

Polansky Shakespeare Center, 262 Ashland Pl., Brooklyn
866-811-4111
A Scythian shepherd of ferocious will rises to power to become king of half the world. An epic spectacle first performed in 1587 to wildly popular acclaim, the last major New York production of Tamburlaine was in 1956 on Broadway. Now, audiences have a rare chance to see Christopher Marlowe's disturbingly modern masterpiece. (Though most of its battles happen off stage, there are some gunshots, stage blood and theatrical haze, which some may find inappropriate for those under fourteen.) Tues.-Sat., 7; Sat., 1. Call or visit website for variations in playing schedule.
