The Garden of Dreams Foundation announced today that Darryl "DMC" McDaniels has been named to the Foundation's Board of Directors. McDaniels is one of the pioneers of hip hop music, a founding member of the popular group RUN DMC, a 2009 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee and a Congressional Angels in Adoption Award recipient for his work with children in foster care and promotion of adoption.

"Darryl McDaniels is not only a music legend, but a true leader and role model with the work he does to help children," said Hank Ratner, Chairman, Garden of Dreams Foundation and President & CEO, The Madison Square Garden Company. "Darryl's work in the community is extensive, making him a perfect fit to become a key part of our Foundation. His addition to our Board will further support the Foundation's mission to use the power of Madison Square Garden to make dreams come true for children facing obstacles and his commitment to children will only enhance our efforts in the community."

"I am thrilled to serve as a Board member for an organization that makes such a profound impact on children," said McDaniels. "I have participated in a few of their many events and have seen first-hand that Garden of Dreams gives children a chance to explore their dreams and exposes them to opportunities they would not experience anywhere else."

Garden of Dreams is a 501c3 non-profit charity that works closely with all areas of The Madison Square Garden Company, including the New York Knicks, Rangers, Liberty, MSG Media, MSG Entertainment and Fuse to make dreams come true for kids facing obstacles. In the five years since its inception, Garden of Dreams has worked tirelessly to fulfill its mission by creating unique and unforgettable events and activities -often involving unprecedented access to The Madison Square Garden Company's celebrities, events and venues -that have brightened the lives of thousands and thousands of special children and their families.

McDaniels dedicates much of his time to helping children. He has worked with Garden of Dreams over the past year by supporting the Foundation through various events including Fuse Rocks the Classroom, the MSG Entertainment Talent Show at Radio City Music Hall and Dream Week. He also co-founded the Felix Organization, a non-profit that helps provide foster children the opportunity to attend summer camp, Camp Felix, every year. For more information on Darryl McDaniels, visit his official website at
McDaniels joins other Garden of Dreams Foundation Board members actors Whoopi Goldberg and Matthew Modine and restaurateur Drew Nieporent, among others.

Garden of Dreams strives to be heroic, inspirational and unforgettable - all attributes of the children the Foundation has had the privilege to meet over the course of its history. Partnering with a diverse collection of outstanding children's related organizations - from hospitals, to foster organizations, to homeless shelters and "wish" organizations, the Garden of Dreams Foundation has a singular goal each and every day - to utilize the power and magic of The Madison Square Garden Company and its properties to bring joy and happiness to children facing devastating problems - whether they relate to illness, homelessness, poverty, foster care issues or tragedy.
