Day Trips for Nightlife: The Water Club and Mohegan Sun

If you’re looking to take a trip out of town while you’re in the city, there are two must-see locations to visit, whether you gamble or not: Borgata’s The Water Club in Atlantic City and Mohegan Sun in Connecticut.

THE WATER CLUB

Borgata’s signature hotel, The Water Club, has opened to much fanfare, and is Atlantic City’s first boutique-lifestyle hotel. It combines elements of the original Borgata Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas while delivering a unique personality of its own.

The ultra-modern 43-story, $400 million hotel features 800 guestrooms and suites; Immersion, a two-story spa on the 32nd floor; 18,000 square feet of meeting and event spaces; three Residences modeled after chic, urban lofts; and five heated pools, both indoor and outdoor, each offering a distinct experience. In the corridor adjoining the Borgata and The Water Club you’ll find six luxury retail shops including La Perla, Hugo Boss, and Hearts on Fire, and the hotel also has seven destination restaurants, including Wolfgang Puck’s American Grille and an Old Homestead Steakhouse. Conceived as an exclusive extension to the sophisticated, international style that already defines Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, The Water Club offers a serenely cosmopolitan setting, blending high design and modern amenities with an intimate and highly personalized guest experience. True to its name, the element of water introduces the notion of vitality and sets the overall aesthetic tone for The Water Club; intriguing design materials fuse clean, elegant lines with soothing water features.

The hotel’s lobby lounge, The Sunroom, offers a central view of one of two heated outdoor pools, inspired by the design and experience of Miami’s South Beach. A perfect setting for sunning and socializing, the Brazilian Ipé wooden deck features sand and cabanas overlooking a 400-jet Infinity-edge Jacuzzi pool. The hotel’s two indoor pools are set amid lush live landscaping, large bamboo stalks, and natural light, evoking the feeling of an outdoor setting. Located on the 32nd floor, Immersion – The Spa at The Water Club features 16 ‘experience’ rooms, a state-of-the-art fitness center, and a spacious, 25-yard Infinity-edge lap pool with sky views overlooking the ocean. Although The Water Club isn’t a gaming facility, hotel guests can head next door to the Borgata and be high rollers.
