The critically lauded (“A Brilliantly out-of-the-box idea” - Wall Street Journal; "One of the best tribute shows of this, or any year.” - BWW), award-winning Echoes of Etta (A Tribute to Etta James), returns to Joe’s Pub for two performances only: July 31st and August 1st. And – I cannot stress this enough – the show is being recorded live both nights with audience reactions intact... yours if you play your cards right!
Featuring musical direction and arrangements by Michael Thomas Murray and starring William Blake (the celebrated contemporary performer who’s worked with Liza Minnelli and Chita Rivera, NOT the 16th-century Romantic poet), the show includes a killer trio of backup singers, The Peaches (an homage to the legendary Ms. James, whose nickname was Miss Peaches), as well as Mr. Murray at the keyboard alongside his band.
In short, all these elements guarantee music lovers of all generations a knockout evening of music spanning myriad genres from blues, R&B, soul, and rock to jazz and gospel.
Included in the program are the songs “Sunday Kind of Love”, “At Last”, “Tell Mama”, “You Can Leave Your Hat On”, “I'd Rather Go Blind”, “Something's Got A Hold On Me” and “Purple Rain”.
