The Opera Orchestra Of New York presents the second installment of its Rising Stars Series on Thursday, February 4, 2010 at 6:00 pm in Lincoln Center's intimate Walter Reade Theater. In this special presentation, celebrated soprano Julianna Di Giacomo sings a few of her favorite arias from Verdi's I Due Foscari, Verdi's Stiffelio and Dvorak's Rusalka. The performance is complemented by a chat with Metropolitan Opera commentator Ira Siff about Di Giacomo's recent La Scala debut as "Lucrezia Contarini" in Verdi's I Due Foscari, a role she first sang with Opera Orchestra in December of 2007. Of her performance in the role, The New York Times raved "The soprano Julianna Di Giacomo brought passionate intensity to the role of Lucrezia, her large, bright, agile voice surpassing most of the coloratura demands with expressive ease."

The Rising Stars Series, a new artistic initiative that The Opera Orchestra of New York introduced for the 2009-2010 season, began December 1 with a recital by tenor Bryan Hymel. Each of these intimate and informal Dinner Hour Recitals and Talks, hosted by Ira Siff, celebrates one of Opera Orchestra's rising stars with its beloved music director and founder Maestro Eve Queler at the piano. This performance by Julianna Di Giacomo also features harpist Barbara Allen.

'Songs of the Sea & Taverns' Tavern Concert - Historic Richmond Town
