Jazz, Hip-Hop, Reggae, or the classics ? New York City venues feature music from all cultures. Whether you're catching an aria at Lincoln Center, or checking out a band at Central Park Summerstage, NYC has a gig you won't want to miss.
Keane - Radio City Music Hall
May 27, 2009 - Manhattan
The rock group performs.
Grizzly Bear - The Town Hall
Through May 29, 2009 - Manhattan
This Brooklyn based group released their first album in 2006 and in the 3 years since have toured with Radiohead, TV on the Radio, Feist and co-headlined with the L.A. Philharmonic. This tour is in support of their latest album, Veckatimest, named for a tiny, uninhabited island on Cape Cod that the band visited and was inspired by, particularly liking its Native American name. There is an unbelievable clarity of sound and vision to Veckatimest: vocals (a duty shared by all band members) are sharper and more complex, arrangements are tighter, production is more venturous and lyrics more affecting.
The Marriage of Figaro - Amato Opera
Through May 31, 2009 - Manhattan
Figaro is the Count's loyal valet -- but the Count has designs on Figaro's fiancee, in Mozart's witty and hilarious sequel to The Barber of Seville.
