Up Close: See Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel in NYC!

When was the last time you got to experience a masterpiece of world culture within easy reach of a subway ride? For just one month this summer in NYC, Westfield Corporation will be presenting “Up Close: Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel,” an incredible exhibit that will give guests the chance to experience this Renaissance legend as only its creator has seen it. The exhibit will be at The Oculus in Lower Manhattan all day from June 23 through July 23, though you’ll feel like you’ve been transported to Vatican City in the 16th century.

The Exhibit

Not everyone gets a chance to see the Sistine Chapel in person, so the Westfield Corporation is excited to be able to bring this truly unique and awe-inspiring piece of history to people, not just in New York, but all over the country. After its debut in the Big Apple, “Up Close: Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel” will be hitting the road for destinations like Sacramento, Los Angeles, San Diego, Seattle, Chicago, and Annapolis. Westfield’s Creative Head of Global Entertainment, Scott Sanders, said, “We are thrilled to showcase this beautiful exhibit in our centers across the country and give viewers the chance to experience this artwork in an up close and intimate way.”

The Artwork

“Up Close: Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel” presents 34 pieces of painting designed to give the viewer a sense of what it would be like to take a look, up close and personal, at Michelangelo’s original paintings. The Creation of Adam and The Last Judgment are just two of the pieces that you’ll be able to find at the exhibit. Say goodbye to craning your neck to get a good view of artwork being kept at a safe distance, and get ready to see this artwork as closely as it was seen by the artist himself. Guests build their own experiences at this exhibit, as they are allowed to give themselves a self-guided and self-timed tour. Those looking for an even more in-depth experience can purchase an audio guide for $3 and listen to a narrative offered in four languages.
