Broadway Video: Aladdin

We've got the inside story of James Iglehart's performance as Genie in Aladdin, one of the most spectacular and enchanting family musicals to soar onto the Broadway scene.

Broadway Video: Chicago

NFL running back/Heisman Trophy winner Eddie George joins Amra-Faye Wright and NaTasha Yvette Williams in Chicago, famed for its knockout dancing, a ripped-from-the-headlines scandal, and one show-stopping song after another.

Broadway Video: Fiddler on the Roof

From the poignant opening frame to the silent final frame (calling to mind refugees then and mind), this revival of Fiddler on the Roof is a very special production. The new choreography is an amazing additive and does not forsake the genius of Jerome Robbins’s original moves.

Broadway Video: Jersey Boys

Jersey Boys has always been more than a jukebox musical. It is a rise-and-fall-and-rise saga about singers with roots in 1950s doo-wop, some with rap sheets and all of whom dealt with mobsters.

Broadway Video: The Lion King

The story of Simba, the cub who would be king, staked its claim as an unprecedented Broadway phenomenon—a feast of unbound imagination, stirring storytelling and pure, visceral joy. Now, at the venerable stage age of 18, The Lion King’s reputation for being one of the Broadway’s most coveted tickets remains intact, as does its status as a show that crosses all generational lines: a timeless musical must-see that mesmerizes kids and grownups alike.

Broadway Video: The Phantom of the Opera

The Phantom of the Opera is the Broadway musical all others are measured against. The production’s youth serum, it seems, is its blend of timeless story, impeccable upkeep, and sporadic infusions of new talent, illustrated recently with the arrival of a new leading lady and man—Julia Udine as Christine Daaé and James Barbour as “the man behind the mask.”

Broadway Video: School of Rock

School of Rock is Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber’s slam-dunk into the world of electronic keyboards, Les Paul and Explorer guitars, and killer drum kits. This ultra-fun family-friendly show is a knockout. Certainly it’s a breakthrough for leading actor Alex Brightman, who channels film-version star Jack Black without sacrificing his own personality. And the “school” of jaw-droppingly gifted kids? Well, let’s just say it totally lives up to the hype, from their masterful playing of the instruments to their delivering the vocal goods in songs like “Stick It to the Man” and “School of Rock.”

If these videos have you inspired to take advantage of Broadway Week, don't wait too long to get your tickets, as many shows will sell out of their 2-for-1 deals well before the curtains go up. For more Broadway Week information, visit NYC & Company.
