Midtown Comics: Why It's the Best Comic Store in NYC

One of the greats on the New York comic scene, Midtown Comics is a wondrous place for all things comic and graphic.  The location in Times Square is the most well known and prominent. The other outposts are in Grand Central and down on Fulton Street.

Your journey begins with a short walk up a small, cramped flight of stairs from the street. It doesn't look like much, but once you get to the top and make the left, the store opens up before you gloriously. What makes Midtown Comics so great is that it isn’t limited to traditional comics. As you walk around, you will discover a wide variety of manga, magazines, and novels on the first floor. If you go up to the second floor, past the Joker bust (yes, it's for sale), dozens of figures from Batman to the latest Godzilla incarnation, you'll find ever more merchandise, including t-shirts, glasses, model kits, and so much more.

Also, the employees are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. That last bit is very important. They understand the intricacies of different series. They can recommend other series you may like based on your current interests. They can tell you which Midtown Comics store carries what you want, or, if all else fails, point you to another employee who knows even more.

Midtown is also dedicated to helping you complete your collection as soon as possible. The entire left side of the store is dedicated to back-issues of different comics and magazines. Their stock is vast and may just contain that last issue you've been hunting for. They also have a somewhat less extensive, but still impressive, section for new comics and manga to help you stay up to the moment.

On top of everything else, if you don't love brick and mortar shopping, you can order anything in the stores through their e-commerce website.

Midtown Comics Times Square is currently located at 200 W. 40th St. Call 212-302-8192 or visit midtowncomics.com for more information.
