Description: Art song gets earthy and edgy, thanks to three distinctive women's voices. Fronted by Shara Worton, whose velvety, delicate voice floats with equal beauty over chamber music-informed arrangements or alt-rock experiments, My Brightest Diamond will show their sonically innovative rock side. Emily Wells, a classically trained violinist, has a broad musical palette that embraces hip hop, gospel, symphonic flights of fancy, and quirky layered pop. Building tracks live via loops, the multi-instrumentalist creates atmospheric, infectious songs with melodica and strings, beats and voice. The night concludes with the US premiere of Chernobyl. The Harvest, performed by Kronos Quartet and special guest Mariana Sadovska. With a voice that ranges from ethereal to earth-shaking, the Ukraine-born singer finds fresh iterations of age-old Slavic melodies and aching traditional songs, accompanying herself on harmonium.
