Now in its final season New York Euripides Summer Festival presents BACCHAE starting June 26th at three popular NYC venues. The festival's closing summer season coincides with American Thymele Theatre's 30 year span as a touring company, offering quality Greek theater to all audiences free of charge. Award winning director Lorca Peress directs a cast of sixteen actors in this musical drama, headed by veteran actor Stephen Diacrussi.

Discovered after Euripides' death and widely considered to be his masterpiece, BACCHAE centers around Dionysus, god of wine and revelry. Dionysus arrives in Thebes, his ancestral home, furious that his cousin Pentheus, now acting ruler of the city, refuses to accept his divinity as son of Zeus. Ignoring the advice of their grandfather, Cadmus and the blind prophet Tiresias, Pentheus attempts to destroy Dionysus with staggering consequences.

Performances of BACCHAE begin at Actors' Temple Theatre (339 W. 47th St) on Monday June 26th at 8PM and continue at AMT Theater (354 W. 45th St.) on Tuesday June 27th at 8PM and Wednesday June 28th at 3PM and 8PM and on Thursday June 29th at 8PM. The final performance is on Friday June 30th at the Marilyn Monroe Theatre (115 E. 15th St) at 8PM. Free admission to all three venues is available on a first come first served basis. Limited seating only for June 30th performance. For corresponding tickets to each performance please go to: https://americanthymeletheatre.yolasite.com/news.php
