Celebrating the Music of Bruce Springsteen's Nebraska
When asked which of his albums best represented him, Bruce Springsteen named Nebraska. Why? Not because it’s his most popular album; it’s actually his sixteenth-best-selling album, behind even Human Touch. Not because it’s his clearest-sounding album; a bedroom production setup and heavy echo create a thick haze of melancholy. According to singer-songwriter and rock historian Dustin Lowman, Springsteen chose Nebraska because it’s the skeleton key that opens up the rest of his discography. On Sunday, July 19, hear Lowman and his trio dive deep into Nebraska, telling the story of the album, performing it in full, and exploring how it impacts our understanding of other Springsteen classics, like “Sandy (4th of July, Asbury Park),” “Darlington County,” “Born To Run,” and more.
