VERDICT (2023) World Premiere Choreography: Zoe Jumabhoy Music: Wylie Pendarvis Dancers: Ben Moleta, Derek Lee, Eliana Balzano, Hannah Morris, Nigel Clifford

Emerging choreographer, Zoe Jumabhoy, is excited to make her professional choreography debut in New York City with her upcoming performance, VERDICT. This powerful and impactful production will be showcased at Gibney’s Agnes Varis Performing Arts Center on May 15, 2023 at 8:00 P.M.

Pulling from her Asian and Western heritage, Zoe dives into the creative process with jarring honesty about her experience as an Asian artist, particularly throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Creating an intimate atmosphere through deep connections between performers and powerful solo acts, VERDICT weaves a narrative like chapters in a book, culminating in an unforgettable experience that leaves a lasting impact.

VERDICT is an impassioned, hour-long contemporary work that delves into themes of turmoil, uncertainty, and conflict. Audiences will be taken on an emotional journey, showcasing the incredible talent and artistic vision of Zoe Jumabhoy in collaboration with Los Angeles based musician and producer Wylie Pendarvis.

The primary inspiration for VERDICT stems from Zoe's previous show, EPILOGUE. VERDICT serves as a closing statement, demanding an emotional response - what does it mean to you?
